This 30 minute webinar covers the use of high flow nasal prong (HFNP) therapy in a variety of clinical situations including optimisation of safe apnoea time during intubation, use in patients post anaesthesia or receiving narcotic medication postoperatively with a history of obstructive sleep apnoea, and the role of HFNP therapy in patients with respiratory failure. During the session, we review relevant case studies to identify the appropriate use of HFNP, initiation, adjusting settings and discontinuing therapy. The session will include an overview of the physiology and mechanism of action including its impact on breathing mechanics, oxygenation and patient comfort.
