Respiratory compromise is one of the most common causes of clinical deterioration and cardiac arrest in children. While many children present with seemingly routine respiratory illnesses, subtle changes in physiology can rapidly progress to respiratory failure if not recognised and managed early.
This interactive 90-minute webinar explores the pathophysiology, assessment and recognition of respiratory deterioration in infants and children. Using clinical case studies from emergency and perioperative settings, participants will develop a practical framework for identifying the child at risk, understand the progression from respiratory distress to respiratory failure, and make timely decisions regarding escalation of care.
The session is designed for nurses, doctors, paramedics and allied health professionals who care for children across emergency, perioperative, acute, primary care and rural health settings.
