The Medcast Resuscitation Instructor Course is a simulation-based training program designed for healthcare professionals delivering or aspiring to deliver ALS, PALS, and BLS training. This course focuses on equipping instructors with the skills to provide high-quality resuscitation education, ensuring healthcare teams develop both the technical and non-technical competencies essential for all resuscitation roles. Whether you are certifying or recertifying as an Advanced Life Support (ALS) and/or Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) instructor, this program delivers the expertise and accreditation needed to facilitate effective, evidence-based resuscitation training.

• Comprehensive course manual covering adult education principles, simulation-based resuscitation training, and debriefing techniques

Assessment & Certification

To successfully complete the program, participants must demonstrate their competency in resuscitation education through:

Theory examination on Core ALS/PALS knowledge and resuscitation education principles

Simulation-based assessment covering:

• Effective ALS/PALS simulation delivery (briefing, debriefing, psychological safety)

• Correct application of ALS/PALS algorithms in team-based resuscitation

• Candidate assessment skills, including:

• High-quality CPR performance

• Safe defibrillator use, medication administration, and intraosseous (IO) insertion

• Advanced airway management – bag-valve-mask (BVM) ventilation, waveform capnography, and supraglottic airway (SGA) insertion

• Resuscitation team leadership and crisis management skills

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for the Medcast Resuscitation Instructor Course, candidates must:

• Hold AHPRA registration (Medical Officer, Registered Nurse, Paramedic)
• Have current ALS and/or PALS certification from a recognised provider (Medcast, ARC Course Centre ALS2, ACCCN) or as approved by Medcast Head of Education

Preferred experience:
Recent clinical experience in resuscitation, critical care, emergency, anaesthesia, or cardiac care
Prior teaching experience in clinical education, simulation, or clinical skills training
