Today, Medcast launched a new Australian AI-led healthcare technology platform, giving doctors and health organisations instant access to contextual answers from trusted clinical knowledge sources while earning Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as they work.
It draws on verified Australian clinical guidelines, including RACGP-guidance and peer-reviewed evidence, to provide contextual, real-time answers with transparent citations back to source material.
MedLuma is launching initially for Australian general practice, where rising complexity, expanding medical knowledge and growing time pressure continue to shape the reality of clinical work. MedLuma will soon be integrated with Best Practice software, and a broader rollout across other healthcare professions is planned.
Developed within the Medcast healthcare education ecosystem, one of Australia’s leading providers of continuing professional development (CPD), supporting more than 100,000 healthcare professionals, MedLuma is designed to meet the growing demands of modern clinical practice.
The platform addresses a key challenge in healthcare: the time clinicians spend navigating fragmented and often inconsistent clinical information while making fast, high-stakes decisions. By bringing trusted evidence into a single, intelligent platform, MedLuma helps clinicians quickly access the right guidance when and where they need it.
Dr Stephen Barnett, Co-founder of MedLuma, GP and Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Wollongong Graduate School of Medicine, said the platform was built in response to the growing knowledge burden facing clinicians.
Co-founder Justin Lewis said the platform reflects a considered approach to healthcare knowledge in Australia.

With one in three young Australians experiencing a mental health condition each year, and suicide remaining the leading cause of death for 16 to 24-year-olds, the way clinicians approach antidepressant use in teens and young adults has never been more important.
