Paediatric Basic Life Support Online 2025

This comprehensive paediatric basic life support course offers scenario-based online education and competency assessment. It's ideal for first-responders and healthcare professionals dealing with clinical emergencies like cardiac arrest and anaphylaxis. Successful completion ensures a paediatric BLS Certification.

Course Content

The Paediatric Basic Life Support course covers each step in the DRSABCD algorithm as per the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines for resuscitation of infants and children. It also includes managing collapsed patients, anaphylaxis treatment, and techniques for optimising outcomes in cardiac/respiratory arrests. Video demonstration of key skills is included.

Engage in case-based eLearning with video demonstrations to master skills in providing CPR, using AEDs, and managing anaphylaxis in paediatric patients. This self-paced learning fits any schedule with an estimated completion time of 2 hours.

BLS Practical Component - Demonstrating CPR Proficiency

Successful completion of this course includes demonstration of the paediatric basic life support algorithm (DRSABCD) CPR and use of AED. You will need to perform 2 minutes of CPR on an infant or child mannikin (not provided with the course, please contact us if you are having trouble sourcing a mannikin. DO NOT demonstrate CPR on a live person) including demonstration of checking for dangers, determining response, sending for help, checking & opening the airway for an infant and a child, checking for breathing, performing compressions on an infant and a child and ventilations, applying defibrillator pads and demonstrating safe use of simulated AED.

Steps to complete the practical component:

  1. Video Submission - Upload your CPR demonstration for assessment and feedback

  2. Video Conference Session - Book a session via the link in the course learning for assessment and live feedback with our resuscitation educators

  3. Group Session - For healthcare organisations or groups, organise a face to face session with our educators at your location (may incur travel costs)

Please note that if you select options 1 or 2 above, you will need to have access to a functioning manikin. If you need to purchase one, we recommend the following types of manikin:

  • For individuals only needing occasional use of a manikin, the Mini baby inflatable is an excellent cost effective option, and the Mini Anne inflatable

  • For those looking for a more robust option - Practi-Baby and Preston -Junior

  • A top of the line option that provides CPR feedback - Laerdel QCPR baby and Laerdel QCPR Junior

  • If you are using a mannikin and do not have a bag valve mask to demonstrate breaths plus you are unable to clean the mannikin - you can purchase a CPR face shield to place between the mannikins mouth/nose and your mouth like in the following
