Pain acts as a warning to alert us of a potential or actual problem, it is an individual experience and we often use the saying ‘pain is whatever the patient says it is’.
Pain assessment and management is crucial to patients' wellbeing and recovery, but isn’t always easy to assess or manage. Pain management involves assessing, treating and monitoring a patient's pain to ensure they are comfortable and can participate in their recovery. There are a variety of techniques to manage pain including the use of devices such as the ON-Q Pain Buster, epidurals, PCAs and non-pharmacological methods such as heat or cold therapy, and teaching patients self-management techniques.
Our Critical Bytes Series focuses on providing you with the latest grab of information with practical tools and tips to incorporate into your clinical practice to improve practice and patient outcomes.
You should attend this webinar if you are interested in refining your pain management skills and want to have a deeper understanding of pain pathophysiology and pharmacology. The webinar will be interactive with case studies and polls to allow you to test your knowledge and provide you with an opportunity to apply your knowledge to clinical practice for a variety of patient situations.
