Infertility affects approximately 1 in 20 Australian males, yet misconceptions and stigma continue to cloud awareness and access to care. In an effort to bridge these gaps, the first Australian evidence-based guidelines on male infertility have been released, providing a framework for best-practice diagnosis and management in the Australian healthcare system.
General practitioners (GPs) are often the first point of contact for men experiencing fertility concerns and play a pivotal role in early diagnosis, investigation, and referral. However, male infertility is a complex issue with multiple causes, requiring a multidisciplinary approach involving fertility specialists, endocrinologists, urologists, obstetricians, nurses, midwives, counsellors, scientists, and laboratory technicians.
Partnering with Healthy Male, in this webinar we will bring together leading experts in male reproductive health, including the new guideline authors. The panel will provide practical insights into the latest evidence-based approaches to diagnosing and managing male infertility and guide GPs in navigating patient care pathways.
Participants will gain an in-depth understanding of key aspects of male infertility, including:
The latest international best practices, adapted for the Australian context
The rationale behind treatment indications and contraindications
The role of primary care in identifying, managing, and supporting male fertility issues
How to help patients navigate infertility treatments, assisted reproductive technologies (ART), and support services
