Neurological presentations comprise approximately 4% of encounters in Australian general practice. Neurological presentations range from relatively straightforward to life threatening, and GPs therefore play a key role in the triage, assessment and management of such presentations in the community. The other critical roles of the GP are in prevention and management of chronic neurological conditions like stroke and dementia.
