The vital role of haemodynamic monitoring in the critically ill patient

In the fast-paced environment of critical care, where every second counts and patient conditions can change rapidly, the ability to monitor and manage hemodynamics is paramount. Hemodynamic monitoring provides crucial insights into a patient's cardiovascular status, guiding interventions and optimising care to improve outcomes.

This critical care update webinar will provide a comprehensive overview of haemodynamic monitoring. Applying a variety of clinical examples to highlight real-time insights into interpretation of cardiovascular, respiratory and neurological  function, this session will focus on the application of invasive and non-invasive monitoring to detect deterioration, titrate vasopressor and inotropic support and monitor patient response to treatment.

What will be covered?

  • Types of haemodynamic monitoring including non-invasive & invasive methods
  • Risks of complications including line migration, arrhythmias, sepsis and occlusions
  • Interpretation of data and application to treatment including ventilation settings, weaning & titrating vasopressor and inotropic support and ICP management
  • Integration with clinical assessment to make informed decisions about patient care

Who should attend?

This webinar is designed for any clinician caring for patients in a critical care environment utilising haemodynamic monitoring from the simple to the complex.

Learning objectives

  • Understand the principles of continuous cardiac monitoring,  invasive haemodynamic monitoring, neurological monitoring & respiratory monitoring including arterial blood pressure, central venous pressure, pulmonary artery catheters, intracranial pressure monitoring and waveform capnography
  • Identify waveform and parameter changes indicative of patient deterioration including hypovolaemia, cardiac tamponade, tension pneumothorax
  • Interpret monitoring data and apply to patient case studies requiring treatment modifications
  • Identify and understand management principles for risks associated with invasive monitoring
