Dr Ray Boyapati is Chief Clinical Officer at Lyrebird Health, a consultant gastroenterologist at Peninsula Health specialising in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Monash University. He holds a doctorate from the University of Edinburgh, and his peer-reviewed research has been cited more than 1,900 times. That body of work reflects the rigour and the clinical stakes he brings to every problem he takes on.
A nationally recognised medical leader, Ray is passionate about advocating for clinicians and for quality, equitable care for patients. As chair of the IBD Faculty of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA), he has led multiple projects to improve access to high-quality gastroenterology care.
Ray joined Lyrebird as Chief Clinical Officer in early 2026, with a mandate to embed clinical rigour into the DNA of clinical AI, not as a feature but as a foundation. He oversees clinical governance and safety, AI model validation, and how the technology fits into clinical workflows. Ray is a member of the Australasian Institute of Digital Health (AIDH) and the Medical Software Industry Association (MSIA), where he contributes to national policy on AI in healthcare.
