Jemma Weidinger, Nurse Practitioner, Department of Dermatology Perth Children’s Hospital
Jemma is a registered nurse and nurse practitioner. She has postgraduate studies in child health and allergy nursing and a Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner). Jemma has over 25 years of experience in healthcare, most of this working with children. She has worked for many years at Princess Margaret Hospital for Children in Perth (now Perth Children’s Hospital) and has also worked in children’s hospitals in New South Wales and Victoria.
Jemma has worked in a variety of roles in various clinical settings including nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, clinical nurse including research and staff development nurse. Her work interests include childhood eczema and allergy, parent support and education and research.
Jemma works as a nurse practitioner in the Dermatology Department at Perth Children’s Hospital where she established the nurse-practitioner-led eczema service and rapid eczema and allergy support service for young children with eczema and food allergy/food allergy concerns. Jemma’s role includes seeing and treating children with eczema from birth to 16 years of age and developing eczema resources to educate and support consumers and other health professionals. Jemma has also been involved with extensive national consultation for a number of paediatric eczema resources for consumers and health professionals.
